Crack the Code of Story-Writing
Taking practical examples of story-telling, especially from the stage, I try to draw out what works, why; and what creative choices might have altered the finished product. Ultimately I am seeking that I and other creators can think when making and applying choices to our own story-telling projects
About Stories Cracked
Story-telling is an inherently subjective pursuit, and labelling any single work or production as good or bad, or (indeed) any element as good or bad. All artistic endeavours involve choices from those who have contributed; and those choices affect the outcome.
Here, then, I seek to consider the choices that have been made and my highly subjective view of them. This is with a view to build my knowledge and understanding of the choices available and potential impacts on my own creative endeavours.
Starting point
When talking about anything here
Compromise: All artistic endeavours involve compromise, especially the preforming arts - this affects choices over time, language, performers, cost etc.
Desired outcome: The choices taken may reflect a desired outcome, and this may differ from an outcome that I may have wanted to achieve in the same situation
Collaboration: especially in the performing arts (but in all artistic endeavour) the final piece represents a collaborative effort of all involved.
